Abstract

Engineered cementitious composites (ECC) are a class of high-performance fiber-reinforced materials
designed to address the brittleness of conventional concrete. ECC has tensile strengthening properties
that control micro-crack formation, making it an ideal material for building resilient infrastructure. This
paper provides a brief overview of fiber-reinforced cementitious composites. It also evaluates the
feasibility of implementing ECC in Uzbekistan in terms of local resource availability, construction sector
needs, and environmental goals. The results of the study indicate that ECC has great potential to improve
seismic performance and support the sustainable development of the country's construction industry.
