This article provides information on the peculiarities of compaction of road foot grunt with vibrating
catocs and their importance in increasing the stability, strength and load-bearing capacity of the road
structure. The sequence of building the road foot structure, the procedure for performing technological
processes and the machine – mechanisms used are given. The activities of scientists involved in the
production, modernization of compacting machines, determination of the parameters of the interaction
between the working body and the grunt, as well as research, have been explained. A table consisting of
values reflecting the relationship between the roller mass and the soil layer thickness of the number of
transitions in the compaction of the roller has been cited. Graphs are constructed that reflect the
relationship between the structural and vibrational parameters of the roller. Opinions have been expressed
on the application of the process of dynamic and static compaction of soils. Recommendations for the
introduction of the results obtained into production are included.
